How to Send Mail to Multiple Recipients with the Address List hidden (Macintosh)

There are two ways to send mail out of Eudora without the recipients seeing who else was sent your message.

What you enter here is what the recipients will see
What you enter here is what the recipients will see
What you enter here is what the recipients will see
What you enter here is what the recipients will see
What you enter here is what the recipients will see

First Way

If you have a list of addresses to which you'll be sending frequently, and you want to conceal the list from the recipients, do this:

Make an Address Book entry for this list (in this example - Bosses), and put the addresses of the recipients in the Address(es) field. Then put something in the Full Name field. Make sure it's something you don't mind the recipients seeing. Let's say you put Coach there.

Now, whenever you send a message to that list, put the Address Book entry Nickname (Bosses) in the To: field of the outgoing message. You will still see all of the email addresses, but the people who get it will only see this:

    To: Coach:;

That's it. No list of addresses.

Note: this will only work if you have more than one address in the Address(es) field of this Address Book entry, and if there's something in the Full Name field.

BCC stands for Blind Carbon Copy. In this example, everyone will get the e-mail, but the TO field will only show the natronem@eudoramail.com address.

Second Way

BCC stands for Blind Carbon Copy. If you put the addresses you want to conceal in the BCC line instead of the TO line in an outgoing message, they'll be hidden. This also applies if it's a nickname in the line.

In this example pictured above, this e-mail will go to all four people - natronem @eudoramail.com, rodb @eudoramail.com, marionb @eudoramail.com, and ericb @eudoramail.com. However, each person will only see:

    To: natronem @eudoramail.com

You can try it out by sending a message to a friend and putting your own address in the BCC line.

Or if you leave the To: field blank, everyone who receives the e-mail will see in the To: field "Recipient List Suppressed".
