"Could not open the file for writing. (Win)Document ID: 2643HQ
I receive the error "Could not open the file for writing. No such file or device exists (2)"
This issue normally is caused by Norton Anti-virus quarantining attachments or embedded images that are infected with a virus. What Norton does is removes the infected files and replaces them with a placeholder. Everyplace holder is generated with the same name and then a number is added to the end of the file, for example:
Once the file reaches roughly 999 the above error appears. To resolve this issue; close Eudora, and go into your Attach folder located in the Eudora data directory. Remove any files that refer to Norton. It may also be necessary to do this in the embedded folder. Reopen Eudora and try to check mail.
Developers are aware of this issue. Developers are currently considering a couple options to address this issue.
