Mac clients unable to authenticate to SMTP

Document ID: 2585HQ

ISSUE:

Mail Server does not understand request.

SOLUTION:

This issue is more apparent to Macintosh users, which the e-mail client tries to Authenticate the connection with NTLM.

If you are using NT Mailboxes then you should not have this problem, but if you are using Registry or Database mailboxes, then you will need to do the following.

  1. Open the MailSite root folder and locate a file called: msspiauth.dll

  2. Rename the file to: MSSPIAUTH.BAK

  3. Stop and Restart the SMTPRA service.

Macintosh users should be able to authenticate their connections.
