Logging a crash - MAC OS X

ISSUE:

My Macintosh running OS X is crashing.


SOLUTION:

We recommend that you log your crashes. Then you can send in your crash log and we can review it and make the appropriate suggestion.


Using Mac OS X 10.3 (Panther)

1. Open the Console Application (Applications/Utilities/Console).

2. On the left side, in the Logs column, navigate to ~/Library/Logs, Crash reporter, Eudora.crash.log

3. Select all the text of the log on the right side. Copy to clipboard.

4. Paste clipboard into an email message and send to Eudora.

5. After the copy and paste, go to the Console and click the "Clear" button when the Eudora.crash.log is highlighted.


Using Mac OS X (10.2 or earlier)

1. Click on Go/Applications/Utilities folder/Console.

2. Open the Console and click on the main menu, Console/Preferences and click on the Crash tab, check both Log Crash information in ~/Library/Logs/ and Automatically display crash logs.

3. Click on the Logs tab and change the Show only the last _ lines of log files to 300.

4. In the "When Console is hidden, display text for _ seconds, then re-hide add 300 second.

5. When you get a crash, the console should appear automatically, copy and paste the contents on the console into a message in Eudora email Eudora tech support.

6. After the copy and paste, go to the Console and click on File/Clean.
