Auto compacting of mailboxes

Document ID: 1712HQ

Issue:

When does Eudora automatically compact mailboxes?

Solution:

Mailboxes are compacted automatically based on two settings. Copy and paste this text into a new Eudora message-

<x-eudora-option:CompactMailbox%>

<x-eudora-option:CompactDisk%>

Hold down the ALT key and click on the links to modify them.

Compact Mailbox percent is the percent of a mailbox that is taken up by wasted space (messages that have been transferred or deleted but not yet removed from the mailbox file) before Eudora will automatically compact. Default is 50 percent of the mailbox, so when half of your mailbox file is wasted space, Eudora will automatically compact.

Compact Disk percent is the percent of your hard drive that is taken up with wasted space in a mailbox. The default is 5 percent, so if the amount of wasted space in a mailbox is 5 percent of your total hard drive space then Eudora will automatically compact that mailbox.
