AOL, MSN, or Web Based Email with Eudora Document ID: 1674HQMicrosoft Network (MSN) Microsoft Network is an ONLINE SERVICE - meaning that they use their own proprietary e-mail system. All of their mail has to go through a gateway to get out onto the Internet, meaning that Internet-based mail programs like Eudora can't talk to them. You can only use Microsoft software that they provide to check and send mail through them. To use Eudora, you'll need to have an INTERNET SERVICE PROVIDER with a POP3 or IMAP4 mail server. You can, of course, use Eudora with an Internet Service Provider account to send mail to and get mail from people with MSN accounts; you just can't use Eudora with an MSN email account. America Online (AOL) America Online is also an online service - but recently announced Open Mail Access, which supports IMAP4. As a result, you can use Eudora to check and send mail from your AOL account. More information is available at Unofficial AOL Email FAQ. Web Based Email If you have a web based e-mail account, you will have to check to see if it also supports POP3 connections. Most do not - but some do or allow you to purchase POP3 access (such as Yahoo.com). Hotmail (owned by Microsoft) only allows you to use a Microsoft product to check your Hotmail. You can check your web based e-mail account's e-mail with Eudora only if it supports the POP3 or IMAP4 mail protocol. Keywords: EPWIN, EPMAC, AOL, MSN, HOTMAIL, YAHOO, ICQMAIL
