Question marks in the Status of messages

Document ID: 1639HQ

Issue:

What do the question marks in the status column of my mailbox mean?

Solution:

When a mailbox Table of Contents (TOC) becomes corrupted, Eudora will rebuild it based on the messages it sees in the Mailbox file. The status of messages, whether they have been read, replied to, forwarded, redirected, is kept in the TOC. For the messages where Eudora lost this information and couldn't recover it, it places the ? in the status column.
