501 Invalid Domain Document ID: 1631HQIssue: When sending a message, the SMTP server returns "501 Invalid Domain" Solution: The domain it is referring to is the domain name for your computer as specified under the TCP/IP properties. Go to the Network Control Panel and look at the properties for TCP/IP on the DNS Configuration tab. The "host" should generally be your username (everything before the '@' sign in your e-mail address) and the "domain" should be the domain for your ISP (everything after the '@' sign in your e-mail address) though you should check with your ISP if you are unsure what to put here. When the domain has illegal characters in it, such as spaces or backslashes, the SMTP server will give you the 501 error message. Change your host and domain to a valid host and domain as per your ISPs settings on what you should enter. Keywords: EPWIN, ALLCARDS
