Toolbar icons look bad

Document ID: 1462HQ

Issue:

The toolbar icons look blurry and terrible!

Solution:

First, copy and paste this text into a new Eudora message-

<x-eudora-option:ToolbarDisplayFix=1>

The text you paste will show up in blue as a URL. Hold down the ALT key and click on it - a window will appear asking you to click OK. Click OK. Quit out of Eudora, start it up, and see if the problem continues.

If it does, copy and paste this text into a new Eudora message-

<x-eudora-option:ToolbarDisplayFix=2>

The text you paste will show up in blue as a URL. Hold down the ALT key and click on it - a window will appear asking you to click OK. Click OK. Quit out of Eudora, start it up, and see if the problem continues.

[note: Setting this to 1 causes the icons to be imaged from a device-independent bitmap to resolve issues with video drivers that cannot display Eudora's toolbar icons. Setting to 2 limits the toolbar to the icons which are in the default toolbar; some customized icons may appear as the wrong icon when this setting is set to 2.]

Next, download and re-install the latest video drivers from the manufacturer of your video card. Even if Eudora is the only program having issues, you should re-install the latest video drivers and restart your computer.

If the problems continue, try lowering the graphics acceleration or changing the color depth of your display. Go to Start: Settings: Control Panel: Display. To lower the graphics acceleration, select Start: Settings: Control Panel: Display. On the settings tab, select Advanced, then select the Performance tab. There you can select the Hardware Acceleration and lower it as needed until your card can support the graphics in the Eudora toolbar. To change the color depth, select Start: Settings: Control Panel: Display. On the Settings tab, adjust the Colors. Some cards have problems with 16-bit colors, others have problems with 32-bit colors. You will have to experiment to see what your video driver supports.

Lastly, in Eudora, go to Tools: Options: Display: and consider unchecking "Use Large Buttons".
