Changing port numbers for POP/SMTP

Document ID: 1419HQ

Below are instructions for re-mapping the POP3 and SMTP ports that WorldMail listens on.

For re-mapping purposes, you must enter the Registry Editor. Take note that making changes to the registry may affect other portions of the computer if not done properly. Please do not make changes if you are not familiar with how the registry works. We also recommend backing up your system before editing the registry.

  1. Go to Start/Run. Type "regedit" and hit return. This will open the Registry Editor

  2. Navigate to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ISOCOR\Services\IMS\CurrentVersion\Settings"

  3. Right click within the right pane and select a new DWORD Value

  4. Name the new DWORD Value "POP3Port"

  5. Right click on the new value and select Modify

  6. Set the base to Decimal and change the Value data to the desired port number

  7. Click OK. You are done re-mapping the POP3 port

Re-mapping the SMTP port is done in a similar manner, except the directory is "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ISOCOR\Services\SMTP\CurrentVersion\Settings" and the DWORD Value is "SMTPPort".
