I Lost mailboxes after upgrading my OS (Mac)

ISSUE:

I just upgraded my Mac OS and I lost all my mailboxes!

SOLUTION (Mac OS X):

The good news is that your files didn't actually disappear; Mac OS X is looking for the Eudora Folder in the Documents folder of your User Directory. If you upgraded from Mac OS 9, your Eudora Folder is either in the Macintosh HD: System Folder: Eudora Folder - or Macintosh HD: Eudora Folder.

Move your Eudora Folder into the Documents folder of your User Directory. Then start Eudora - it should find your mail now.

SOLUTION (Mac Classic):

This good news is that your files didn't actually disappear; they were moved. When you install MacOS System 8 or System 9, you have two options: either to update, or do a clean install.

If you chose the clean install, your system folder (which can contain your "Eudora Folder" - where Eudora keeps all your mailboxes, address books, etc) is renamed "Previous System Folder," and a new "System Folder" is created. The next time you launch Eudora, it looks for the "Eudora Folder" in the "System Folder" and can't find it. Instead, the system creates a new "Eudora Folder" in the "Documents" folder. The new"Eudora Folder" doesn't have any settings or mail in it, and it looks like everything has disappeared when you look at Eudora.

To solve this problem, do the following:

1. Quit Eudora.

2. Move the Eudora Folder from the "Previous System Folder" to the "Documents" folder. The "Eudora Folder" you are moving will replace the newly-created Eudora Folder.

3. Restart Eudora, and your mailboxes should be there.
