Can't play purevoice files sent by pc

Document ID: 1253HQ

I've received a PureVoice sound file from a PC user, but I cannot play it, double-clicking does not open the PureVoice application, and choosing File->Open from within the PureVoice application does not list the file. How do I play it?

The PureVoice application only recognizes PureVoice files with a file type of 'celp' (you can use the FileTyper utility or ResEdit to change this). If QuickTime 3.0 is installed, MoviePlayer will open it if it has the extension ".qcp". If you have QuickTime 3.0 installed, open AppleMenu->Control Panels->QuickTime Settings. Select "QuickTime Exchange" from the popup. Check the "Enable QuickTime Exchange" checkbox and restart. QuickTime will now automagically set the proper file type and creator so long as the PureVoice sound file has a ".qcp" extension. ("Enable QuickTime Exchange" is on by default after installing QuickTime

3.0.)
