Drag-select does not work

Document ID: 1208HQ

Problem:

In Eudora version 1.x or 2.x, you used to be able to click and drag to select multiple messages in a mailbox. That doesn't work anymore!

Solution:

Eudora 3 and higher lets you transfer messages from one mailbox to another by clicking and dragging the message. Therefore, you can't click and drag down a mailbox window to highlight multiple messages at once. You can highlight multiple adjacent messages by clicking on the first message to highlight it, then holding down the Shift key and clicking on the last message. All messages in-between are highlighted.

Alternatively, you can have Eudora go back to its old behavior by opening the Special menu, choosing the Settings option, scolling and selecting the Miscellaneous icon. In the Miscellaneous panel, turn on the "Require control key for text/message dragging" option. With this setting on, Eudora highlights multiple messages when you click and drag in a mailbox. If you hold down the Control key when you click and drag, it transfers the message instead of highlighting others.

We encourage you to at least try selecting multiple messages (use Shift+Click) then dragging the selection to another mailbox to transfer the messages. Drag and drop is the cool "new" way of doing things in Eudora. For messages you receive, you can also drag and drop open messages by grabbing the "tow truck" icon.
