Eudora selects new Japanese republisher and distributor, Livin' on the EDGE for distribution of Eudora for Windows and Macintosh in Japan
Eudora selects Livin' on the EDGE (LOTE) for distribution of Eudora email software within Japan, in addition to Japanese language localization for both Windows® and Macintosh® versions of Eudora
Livin' on the EDGE Co., Ltd.,, a company whose businesses are internet related system development, management, and designing, (Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, Takafumi Horie President & CEO : Code 4753), and QUALCOMM Inc., (US, Irwin Mark Jacobs CEO NASDAQ symbol: QCOM) reached agreement to tie up in development and distribution of localized versions of global standard e-mail software, "Eudora." With this fact, the Software Distributorship Agreement between LOTE and KUNI RESEARCH INTERNATIONAL Corp.entered into from February, 2002 will be dissolved, and LOTE will be a sole distributor of "Eudora" in Japan.
Since it was introduced in the US for the first time in 1989, "Eudora" has been supported by more than twenty (20) million users worldwide to date. The distribution of its localized versions in Japan was started with the name, "Eudora Pro," in 1995, and since then, this e-mail software has been favored by total of more than one (1) million users. LOTE had been distributing and marketing "Eudora" in Japan on the basis of the tie up with KUNI RESEARCH INTERNATIONAL Corp. up to now. However, with this new tie up, LOTE will build up the partnership with QUALCOMM Inc., the original developer, and handle localizing the software as well. LOTE will continue distributing and marketing of the software as before, and therefore, there is no change regarding those handling.
-Policy for future development and marketing
1. Response to MacOSX LOTE will start localizing the MacOSX compatible version which has already been released as a product in the US. The product release of its localized version is expected on September 1st.
2. The medium-term development policy
LOTE is planning to work on the following measures discussing with QUALCOMM Inc.
-Reinforce Corporate Sales (Site Licenses/Multi-User Licenses)
Reinforce the sales to business enterprises, public offices, and school juridical organizations,
incorporating security and group ware products to the softwares.
-Adding functions like messenger or scheduler
Consider development of a version with functions like instant messenger or scheduler added.
-Response to cellular phone mail
Consider development of functions added software for cellular phone mail.
-Improvement of support
Improve FAQ, and reinforce support to users.
Regarding other than those above, LOTE will provide services and products as needed.
