Sponsored Toolbar Link FAQ In our ongoing effort to make Eudora the best possible communications tool, were constantly adding new bells and whistles to the program. Some are features that weve developed ourselves and built right into the Eudora software code. But there are also many powerful new tools and services being developed by other companies, and we want to give you the ability to access to these complementary resources from within the safety and comfort of the Eudora interface. Thats how we came up with Sponsored Toolbar Links. Question: What are Sponsored Toolbar Links? Sponsored Toolbar Links are buttons that appear alongside the other buttons in your toolbar (assuming youve checked Show Toolbar in your Settings). There are two things you should know about these links: (1) Yes, you can turn them off. See the directions further below for deleting the Sponsored Toolbar Links. (2) Although these are "sponsored" links, theyre not just advertisements. In fact, these links connect you to some very handy resources. For example, one of them will be a "tutorials" link that helps you learn how to take full advantage of Eudoras most powerful features. In the future, these buttons might also include links to an online chat room, a search engine, a major portal or an e-commerce site. Our goal is to give you instant access to a full set of world-class tools and services.
Question: How does the Sponsored Toolbar Link benefit me? Its mostly about convenience. For many people, email has become their primary computer application the one thats open on their desktop more than any other program. In fact, 65 percent of all Eudora users spend at least 30 minutes each day working in email. For these users, having quick access to useful links often comes in handy. Question: If I dont want these buttons in my toolbar, can I delete them? Yes. You can choose whether or not to include the Sponsored Toolbar Links through the same procedure that allows you to control any other button on the toolbar. Windows users - Right click anywhere on the toolbar to display a drop-down menu, then choose "Customize". The "Customize" window box appears. To remove a button from the toolbar, click and drag the button off of the toolbar and into the "Customize" toolbar window. Macintosh users - Move the cursor over the toolbar, hold down the <command> key, and click. A "Toolbar Button Creation" window will appear allowing you to create or remove buttons. Simply click on "Remove Button" to complete the process. Question: How many links are you going to show? Will this interfere with my existing toolbar? We will display a limited number of Sponsored Toolbar Links at any given time (three or less in Eudora 4.3), and they will change infrequently. They will not interfere with your existing toolbar buttons. Question: Is the Sponsored Toolbar Link also included in Eudoras Paid and Light modes? No. It only appears in the Sponsored mode (which is free of charge, thanks to sponsor support). Question: Does Eudora have plans to put sponsor links in other parts of the user interface? No. The only parts of the user interface that offer sponsor visibility are the advertising window, the toolbar (with Sponsored Toolbar Links), and in some cases, a clickable logo on the status bar. Question: What privacy protections do you have in place with regard to Sponsored Toolbar Links? The same privacy measures that apply to our advertising window apply to the Sponsored Toolbar Links. Individual user information is never shared with advertisers. Profiling and click-through information is measured and reported only in aggregate. Please read the Eudora privacy statement at http://www.eudora.com/privacy).
